Whatever you enjoy most about the county fair, chances are that you enjoy sampling some of the food…even though we know that much of it is greasy, diet-breaking or otherwise bad for us. However, since many fair foods, such as elephant ears or ‘Legion Burgers’ are things that we only indulge in once a year, we tend to let our guard down and give in to the temptation. | Jump Rope or The Way We Were | Jump Rope or The Way We Were Every spring the children at our school participated in Jump Rope for Heart to raise money for the American Heart Association. The kids love it. It is fun to watch the littlest ones trying and the bigger ones who can jump forever. Usually after all the grades have competed in a jumping elimination, the teachers jump. Then you find out that some body parts don’t work like they used to. But don’t you remember when jumping rope at recess was just the greatest thing since sliced bread? At our elementary school jump rope was one of the major sporting activities right after kick ball. Oh we had lovely new outdoor basket ball courts but somehow they forgot to provide us with balls. So ‘us kids’ mostly used the courts for a giant skating rink after school. Roller skating now there's a sport. read more>> |
